Maturity Assessment
1. Maturity assessment
Description
The Maturity Assessment is a standard set of questions sent to the site during the preparation phase (see Star Factory Playbook here). The complete maturity assessment includes ~170 questions that maps the as-is state of process and practices and enables sites to self-assess towards criteria from basic to mastery along 5 dimensions (more details here):
- Sustainable process & technology
- Operational Excellence & safety
- Digital foundations
- People & Capabilities
- Transformation governance
See below an example of questions for the sustainability Workstream:
Results are globally aggregated, with one deep dive per workstream (see example below):
Implementation
Completing the maturity assessment is a 3-steps process:
- Step 1 - Selected corporate expert align the questions to be included in the maturity assessment (2 to 4 experts per objective x 2 hours working sessions)
- Step 2 - Align with the SF site leader who fills in which dimension. The assessment forms are shared with the sites for completion. (Autonomous exercise by the sites)
- Step 3 - Results are analyzed and used as inputs of the site roadmap building exercise (Back-office preparation work during roadmap building preparation)
→ Templates can be found in this folder (i.e., google form with assessment questions and excel embedding analytics and graphs for output)
2. OT (Operational Technology) specific Maturity assessment
Description
The OT Maturity assessment is a specific questionnaire that aims to evaluate OT maturity of a site against a referential (a defined baseline).
The assessment consists in:
- A table covering main aspects of the Industrial OT landscape to evaluate the maturity and compare to a defined target state
- A pain point sheet which provides support to discuss further improvements of OT tools and infrastructure (i.e., to solve practical issues)
Implementation
Both the assessment table and the pain point list must be pre-filled by Site OT representatives (Operation, Automation manager, automation engineers). The results are then reviewed with corporate experts to ensure consistency and to evaluate potential solutions to improve maturity.
After the review, action list (incl: improvement, target state, solution, timing, budget) must be elaborated by the site with the support of corporate.
