Inserting a Query
When you first start Analysis, there is no data, or query inside the excel file. The first step is then to insert a query.
Open Data Source
There are 2 options to open Data Source:
- Go to the File tab, click on Analysis then Open Data Source.
Or click the Analysis tab
- First, select an empty cell where you wish
- to insert your data (Ex : A1)
2 - Go to the "Analysis" menu
3 - Click on "Insert"
4 - Select your source system : See the guide on which server to select.
- BW Production - WBP : This is Rhodia Legacy BW server.
- BW Production - PQ1 : This is the Solvay Legacy BW server.
- BI - Production - PQ2 : This is the BI HR BW server.

5 - Connection to the server
- in the SSO (single sign-on)mode you get that screen .
If language box is empty fill in with EN .
If you let it empty the selected language is the language defined within your BW account.
- In case you need to bypass that mode, click on Cancel you will open the screen :
Thus you can enter either your account and password or an other one.
6 - Optional : Click on "Options" to be able to change the language (Only EN supported).
7 - The "Select Data Source" window opens. Here you can either search for the queries by description/technical name (Search Tab) or via browsing in the roles.
- Click on "Insert Data Source"

The "Roles" are folders which contain the core queries. The roles you have reflect your access so if you are not seeing a given role it means you do not have access to it and need to request it ( |

Select the query you want to insert and click OK. This will launch the query and a prompt will appear for you to select the data

Open a workbook (on the server)
- Open “Analysis for Microsoft Excel” in the Start Menu / All programs
2. In “File” tab / Analysis , click icon “Open workbook” (from SAP NetWeaver )
3. Logon the BW server (WBP or PQ1)
4. After logging in with your ID (and password if you are not in the SSO mode).

5. select Folders , then you can select “My Documents” to open your personal workbooks or select “Role” to select core workbooks.
- Go to the File tab, click on Analysis then Open Workbook.

Go to the tab
“Role” and then open a working capital workbook.
Select and open the folder and double click on the workbook.
Open a workbook (saved on your local drive)
You need to first open "Analysis for Microsoft Excel", then open your BW file (by File --> Open or Recent).
If you first open your BW file, then open "Analysis for Microsoft Excel", there will be two Excel opened and you can't refresh your BW file.
