Splitting structure determines how and what selected activity-independent costs from a cost center are divided between the activity types. This applies to both plan and actual costs. A splitting structure consists of one or more assignments, which define the connection between the cost element group to be split and the splitting rule used to divide the costs. After you define a splitting structure, you must assign it to the cost centers on which you want to split costs according to the given rules. The structure can apply to a single version or to all versions in a controlling area for a fiscal year. In Solvay, splitting structures are applied to the production cost centers, to define how to split their costs in fixed and depreciation (WP1) or variable, fixed and depreciation (PF1), so as to determine the correct activity type price for each activity the production cost center uses to post to cost collectors or process orders.

Segregation of duties (SOD) reduces risk of error and fraud so that no single individual can adversely affect the accuracy and integrity of the count. Segregation is based on separation of the three following process Business process : Purchase/ Procurement, Shipment, Consumption in production Physical custody of assets process: counting, recording of movements Accounting process: invoice validation, adjustment resulting from inventory count Respect for SOD rules means that: Personal involved in one process should not also have responsibilities in either of the other two processes. No one should be in a position of self validation, cumulating execution and supervision.
