In this section, you will discover how to install LFG module and how to use it, in particular:

  • How to synchronize contacts from Gmail to Salesforce
  • How to synchronize events from Gmail to Salesforce and form Salesforce to Gmail
  • How to send emails from Gmail to Salesforce
  • How to create Accounts from Gmail to Salesforce

Integration between Salesforce and Gmail / Google Calendar was done in the past with a solution called Cirrus Insight (end July 2017).  This solution is not giving satisfaction to a lot of users mainly for performance reasons.  Lightning for Gmail is a solution provided directly from Salesforce (cost included in the licence cost) that provides similar features in a more efficiently way.

This feature is only available for full Salesforce licences, not for Community licences.

Google Calendar Sync

Firstly, if it is the first time the user uses Cirrus, he/she will need to activate the Google Calendar Sync.

In order to do so, the user needs to go on the Settings button > Calendar > Calendar Sync and click on “Enable Google Calendar Sync”

Cirrus can sync events from the Google Calendar to SFDC and from SFDC to the Google Calendar.

As a general rule, only the events that are flagged with the “Red” color and which are not “Private” will be synced from Google Calendar to SFDC.

Image Removed

The event will be saved on the Google Calendar and will display in red. It will sync with SFDC in the next sync cycle.

Image Removed

Once the cycle is passed, the Event will appear in SFDC.

You can also create an event in SFDC, which will also be synced in your Google Calendar at the same time as the sync cycle happens.

The event synced from SFDC to Google Calendar will appear in the “Red” color as well.
