Monitoring background job is important because once we schedule the job it might be cancelled due to some error. To investigate the root cause we use SM37.

Step-by-step guide

This document explains you about following steps :-

Check the Jobs which you need to run.

Job Monitoring has to be sent between 7AM - 9AM as per France Timings.

India is 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of France. So be careful with that.

A --> JOB MONITORING

Select the system (PF1/WP1) you are supposed to work in from the Excel Document.
Enter User Name and Password.
Type T-Code SM37 in Command Box.
Copy the job name from the excel sheet and paste in the Job name field.
Put (*) mark in User Name.
Change the date accordingly.
Example:
- If you are working on Monday, select from as Friday and to as Monday.
- If you are working on Tuesday say 2^nd then select from as Monday (1^st) to as Tuesday (2^nd).
Execute the job and check the result.
Enter the result in the Excel sheet as Finished.
If a job has an error, Report it to the concerned person.
- Enter the result in the Excel sheet as cancelled.
- Keep the report name as IandP-Job Monitoring Status- XX-XX-XXXX (DD/MM/YYYY) and upload in Share-point.
B --> You are not Authorized to use this Transaction
- If you don’t have authorization to a particular transaction code, the following message will prompt after execution.
- The following message is shown in two cases;
  - - When there is no job matching the job name.
    - Few jobs are run weekly/monthly; they display status once in a week/month as per the job specified.
- Released job- This status applies to background jobs that will run at their start times.
- Active job – This status applies to background jobs that are currently running.
- The following status is shown in two cases.
  - When a job has an error, it is released again to re run.
  - If the job contains an activity which has to be run regularly say for every 15mins/ 1 hour, then it is shown with Released status.
