US Q1 styrene production was down compared with a year earlier, while inventories were up, according to data released by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Wednesday. 

First-quarter 2014 styrene production was down by 3% from the first quarter of 2013.

First-quarter styrene production was also down by 7% from 2.49bn lb in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Meanwhile, first quarter styrene inventories were at 586m lb, up by 13% from 520m lb in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Major US styrene producers include Americas Styrenics, LyondellBasell, Total, Westlake and SABIC – all of which contributed production figures to the AFPM survey.
