China’s Ningxia Younglight Energy Chemical has postponed the commissioning of its new 450,000 tonne/year vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) plant in Yinchuan to the end of April on equipment issues, a company source said on Monday.
The plant in Ningxia province was originally set for commissioning in end-2013, the source said.
In end-March 2014, the company will also conduct test runs at its downstream 100,000 tonne/year polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) plant at the site, for which it will temporarily buy feedstock VAM from other producers, the source said.
Its new 300,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at the same site, meanwhile, is due for start-up in May, the source said.
On 23 January, Ningxia Younglight started commercial operations at its 500,000 tonne/year methanol plant at the site, the source said.
Ningxia Younglight Energy Chemical is a joint venture company between Sinopec Great Wall Energy Chemical and Guodian Power Development.
