UK-based methyl methacrylate (MMA) major Lucite International is entering the final phases of a planned turnaround at its Cassel facility, a source from the company confirmed on Friday.

The turnaround began approximately four weeks ago.

The facility is based in Billingham, in the northeast of England, and has an MMA nameplate capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year.

Nearly all MMA is polymerised to make homopolymers and copolymers, with the largest application being the casting, moulding or extrusion of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) or modified polymers.
