Select your data

Making selections

  1. Before making any selection of dimensions, the dimension field is either in white (available data based on current selection) or grey (no available data based on current selection).
If there are some selections made, the dimension field will change to green.

  2. Single selection (one selection of dimension at one time): simply click once on the dimension required (eg. specific Country, Manufacturing Plant, Product...).

  3. Multiple selections (select a few dimensions at one time):
    a) when dimensions are listed in orders (eg. selecting all Jaguars products): left-click on the first product and drag all the way down to the last product and release mouse button.
    b) when dimensions are not listed in orders (eg. selecting multiple Countries), click on drop down list from Country field, hold on the Ctrl key on your keyboard and start selecting the preferred Countries of your choice. After completing selection, release the Ctrl key to allow the data to be captured.

Search

There are 2 different ways to search data in QlikView:

  1. Normal text search within each dimension field allows finding values within the specific list in question.
Taking an example of looking for the Product "Jaguar Excel":
    - click on the field Product and type the letters "Jag..." or "Ex..."
    - the search string appears and the list will show only the Products containing the letters "Jag" or "Ex". The search string will be highlighted in the values
    - from the list, select the Product that you want. In this example will be "Jaguar Excel".

  2. In the Search field, you can simultaneously search within all fields in the dashboard. Therefore, if needed to search any values, simply type the related letters or numbers of your choice.
    - click into the search field on top left side of the page and type "Jag" (taking the same example of above)
    - the search object offers several hits for this search string grouped by the fields containing these values.
from the list, select the Product that you want.

Current Selections

After making various selections, it may be difficult to keep track on what selections you have made.

To display "Current Selections" box, simply click on "Filters" button. To delete a selection, click on the eraser icon next to the field name. The amend a selection, click on the arrow icon.
