Before creating a contact, search it to avoid creating a duplicate! If a duplicate is created, the system will warn you if:

Go to Gmail. Hoover on the name of the contact Check in the Cirrus sidebar that contact does not exist in Salesforce. |

Scroll down the sidebar to fill in any other information he likes to enter. -Notice that email address is automatically filled in. -Note that some information like address is prefilled based on the Signature of the email.
