Objective and Scope

Objective of this Procedure

The purpose of this document is to explain how to create a Connection Point.

Scope

This operating procedure (OP) applies to all Connection Point: Seaport, Airport, Final Destination City (Customer).

Definitions

Connection Point: A connection point can be one of the following:

• a sea port
• an airport
• final destination City (Customer)

For Transports by air or sea and their preliminary or subsequent transports, it is particularly important that you enter the data for the transportation connection points for transit and customs procedures. By entering this data correctly, the transport cost will be calculated automatically and all relevant documents will be created in Customs Management.
IATA code: also known an IATA location identifier, IATA station code or simply a location identifier, is a three-letter code designating many airports and seaports around the world.

Process

How to create a Connection Point PF1.

Enter transaction Z1T_route in the tool bar, then press ENTER or click on validate

The following screen appears, click on Connection Points.

You access to the Upload Connection Points screen. Now we need to complete the information for the following fields:

1. 1. Country code:

• If your connection point is a Seaport : You have to look for the Seaport range 2 digits number in the following list, then make a manual entry in field A.

For example: If we want to create a connection point for the port of Antwerpen in Belgium, we will enter the 2 digits number for R62 ( range Hamburg – Bordeaux), because Antwerpen is located in this range zone.

• If your connection point is an airport or final destination city (Customer):

Click on the square beside the list to display the list of countries codes.

Select the country of the airport or final destination city (customer) that you want to create; use the scrollbar. We select (FR) for France for instance, then click on validate

Then you have the following entry on your screen.


B - Connection Type : Enter manually one of the following values:
Sea port = P
Airport = A
Final destination City (Customer) = F

C - Station Number/ID.point : Make one of the following entries.

• • • Enter the country code + Code IATA (3 letters) for sea ports.
    • Enter the country code + Code IATA (3 letters) for airports.
    • Enter the country code + 3 letters in the name of the city for a final destination (Customer).

To find the code of the sea port or airport you can search on google; there are many sites with the sea port codes clasify by country, here below some links:

Some examples of entries in field "C".
a.-Seaport Antwerpen Belgium:

b.-Airport CDG – Roissy – France :

c.-For a final destination City, New York City for example, you can take 3 letters of your choice in the name of the city; for this case it could be NYC.

D – Description: Enter the description of your connection point. For the few examples above, this descriton could be:

1. 1. 1. Antwerpen seaport
      2. CDG airport
      3. NYC or something related to customer name

The following step is to choose fields E, F or I depending on your connection point type.


P – Name: Same of field D
V/W – Street/Number: it can be usefull for a final destination city (customer) connection point. Enter the adress of your customer.
X – Lang. (ISO 639): Enter EN = english


Once you finish filling up these fields you can click on excecute
The connection point is created now. The connection points you created should have the following form:
Antwerpen seaport: 62PBEANR
CDG airport: FRAFRCDG
Final destination (Customer): USFUSNYC
