Step-By-Step


Step 1 - Get necessary approvals & Impact analysis

New attribute

PIM solution owner & PIM product owner to approve
Attribute Change

PIM solution owner & PIM product owner to approve.

If attribute is used to stored data from other systems, impact analysis to be run

Attribute Delete

PIM solution owner & PIM product owner to approve.

If attribute is used in export channels, Approval from owner of export channel needed


Step 2 - New Attribute

Go to studio

Settings

Select the folder where you want to create the attribute (No impact on the UX but helps organize attributes)

Cick on + 

  1. Attribute type: (depending on the request. selection field in this example
  2. Technical Attribute name: What will be used in interface (do not change without checking interface)
  3. Attribute label: what the user will see as field name
  4. Attribute right: defines who can see/edit/write the field (depending on the role assigned to the user)
  5. Value list: in the case of selection field
  6. Multiple selection
  7. Selection type: Via intermediary dialog recommended for value list set up as tree
  8. Display External Key additionally: NO, but can be switched on for debugging, development
  9. Disable translation: yes, by default
  10. Defines categorization: show full path of selection or not
  11. Only children selectable: prevent the user from selecting a parent value (recommended unless specific use case)
  12. External Key: of the attribute. Follow pattern
  13. Description of the field is used for >> WARNING it will show in help text to the user
