Measuring or predicting the Partial Discharge Inception Voltage is rather tricky and challenging. Recently, we acquired the software Flux, a multiphysics tool from Altair which allows us to perform electromagnetic, electric, and thermal simulations. The tool was tested with the idea to get a better understanding about PDIV (globally speaking) but also to try predicting the PDIV performances, intrinsically but also in the real application (slot liner in magnet wires…) but also to show the capabilities (and the limitations).  The main results of these simulations are gathered in this document.
