You want to create a new material in Picaso. The first steps are actually done in SAP. Once the SAP setup is complete, you need to take additional steps in Picaso. This document walks you through the Picaso setup.

Step-by-step guide

Add the steps involved:

  1. Have the old material number field of the SAP Material code updated:

Prd_name & Package code (in SAP, transaction MM02, basic view 1)

The overnight will create the material code in ADM. Therefore, 24 h later, update the Search code (default is 999). The number of fields populated from  the overnight  program is very limited . So once you find your new material master , compare to similar product and update the fields in the new material master .   Change the search code field from 999 to 1 (ARO), or 2 ( FP ) or 4 ( PVDC ) or 7 ( FP Intermediates )

Some of the critical fields to update are Material type, UM, Product family ( PRD Field 2 ) and H4

The overnight also inserts a new record in the SKU Code mapping:

use the SKO Code mapping table to find the Picaso material (use the SKU Code = SAP Material number).

Picaso SKU Code is a 7 digit number and it needs leading zeroes.

     e.g. SAP Material code = 205534 => Picaso SKU Code = 0205534

NOTE: Sometimes the material master is set up but a new package code was set up in SAP later. Most likely you will need to manually add new SAP code to SKU code table

Alternatively: insert a new record in the material table in Picaso. Probably better/easier to copy from a similar product.

    1. cross-reference the Picaso material with the SAP material in the SKU Code Mapping table. This key table will
    2. Once this is done, wait for 24h. A series of overnight job will work their magic and bring additional data over.

  2. if the QC time is location dependent, add the locations where the QC time differs from the default one you set in the materials. Do this in the Quality Test Lag table

use the table shortcut to production standards to verify if the material is indeed produced in other locations.

  3. The next day, you may continue your material setup. You will have to setup:
    1. safety stocks, high targets, stock policy (MTS or STK) and the min order quantity, for each package code and plant where applies. Do this in the Inventory Targets and Preferences table
    2. verify that all SAP BoM's have loaded in Picaso. SAP BoM's are known is Picaso as Formulas. Check that table and make sure you take notes of the formula numbers. You will need them for the next steps
    3. identify production lines that are qualified for the new product, in the Production Standard table
    4. For each production line (therefore, for each Production Standard), Picaso needs to know what the rate and the formula is. Record them in the Production Standard effectivity table
    5. Finally, you want to update the Product Family / Business Unit table to ensure that H4, Business Unit, and Finance Material Type are autopopulated in the material master
  4. Circumstance depending:
    1. If the production plants run the QM Module, you want to use the Schedule Upload Lag Adjustment table to avoid that Picaso QC Lags and SAP QM Time add to each other.
    2. If necessary, maintain transition tables to that Picaso adds setup times between runs automatically
