The Data Ocean contains data that comes from a variety of data source systems.  The Data Platform is composed of four environments (dev, uat, preprod, prod) that obtain their data from their respective source system environments.

Each data source (or source system) must have a designated data owner, who is capable of validating access to the original source data to be loaded into the Data Ocean.

Additionally, for Data Products that want to have access to existing data already stored within the Data Ocean, the Product Application Owner must obtain permission from the data owner before any development to make data available to the Product project.

There is no direct access by end users to the Data Ocean Lakehouse.  All Product data to end users will be exposed or generated directly on the data product project.

The Data Product Manager/Owner assumes ownership for controlling access and the usage of the data within the project.  the Product team is responsible for the supervision and the actions of users that have been granted access to the data and must implement their own security controls to conform to Solvay's data policies.  The Data Platform is not responsible for unauthorized access or improper use of data by end users on Product Projects.

Direct access to the Data Ocean Lakehouse is reserved for technical users (Data Architects, Data Engineers, Data Stewards, Operational Teams, etc).  All operations performed on the preproduction and production environments are performed exclusively by service accounts.
