ZCBS - A group of cost centers in SAP

  • Aka “ Alternative Hierarchy ”
  • Maintained in SAP by SBS MAC
  • Mandatory information in the cost center creation request
  • Hierarchy of Nodes where the higher level is Level 1 and the lower Level (more granular) is Level 4
  • Named in BW or Qliksense as: Function 2 (for L2), Subfunction 3 (for L3), Subfunction 4 (for L4)

ZCBS - How does it work ?


NASA - New hierarchy generated in BW

  • The determination of the nodes in NASA is derived from SAP Data ZCBS nodes and the cost center attributes
  • It is a hierarchy where the higher level is Level 1 and Lower Level (more granular) is Level 5
  • In Solvay tools, NASA structure replaced the Budgeting hierarchy ( L1 to L5 )
  • In Qliksense dashboard it is called: “CC Hierarchy Level 1; 2; etc”

NASA - How does it work ?


BSA - Business Support Activities Groups

  • BSA: activity grouping across organizations (eg BSA Finance = Finance in Corporate, in GBU in SBS)
  • In the IS systems, it is determined only in BW (and tools using BW, such as QS); not in SAP
  • Each BSA is made of a regrouping of nodes Level 4 of ZCBS. 
  • The content of each BSA is defined under the lead of the HR Function , with the support of Finance CBS controllers
  • Governance of the BSA concept is still under development
