Cloning an experiment is not a good ELN practice.

The good practice is to create an experiment from to a template.

→ Instead of cloning a full ELN Experiment, you can clone ONLY AN ITEM from another experiment:

Add an item allows you to:

  • work with good practices
  • save time for repetitive item like protocol or procedure
  • have less chance of forgetting to modify data compared to experience cloning
  • add an item from “Close & Lock” and “Archive” experiments

Add item in an experiment

You can find all information in this presentation.

0. Create a new experiment from a template

1. Click on "insert item"

2. Click on "Existing item (s)"

3. Select one or several item(s) from one or several previous experiment(s).

Possible to add item from a “Close & Lock “ and “Archive” experiment”

4. Click on “Insert”

5. Your item is added in your experiment!

you can move it (up or down) like the other item.

6. You can fill and save your experiment as usual.

WARNING:

It's not possible to duplicate an item through “favorite hierarchy”.

It's not an issue with your experiment but with its path to found it. To add an item, always search your experiment in your classic hierarchy and not through your favorite.
