Within EHS module, there are different " specifications " that will enable you to author your documents.

A specification is a "data object" for mapping products, agents, packaging, waste code and dangerous goods classifications in the SAP component Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S). It uses identifiers and value assignments such as physical and chemical properties, medical advice, and details on transport and storage.
There are different "specification types" , each of them is described with a specific SAP EHS code . A specification can pass on data to one or more other specifications by inheritance - see flow charts below.

Specification Starts with:

Specification Type

Description

UN*

LS_UN_SUB

Maintains CLEO DG data for UN number

0*

DG_CL_SUB

DG Specifications: use LS_UN_SUB for each regulation plus more data

1*

PURE_SUB

CAS Level Substance, inherit from LIST_SUB + plus more data

2*

LIST_SUB

Maintains CLEO data for CAS, pass to PURE_SUB

4*CONT_SCEN Contributing Scenario for REACH regulation (Annex eSDS)

5*

PROD_COM

Manual: Rhodia BU, Intermediates, ALL, Raw Materials

6*

REAL_GRP

Real Group Master

7*ZCERT_ADDRCertificate related to Regulatory statement (Food contact, CMR classification,...)
8*REAL_SUB_EReal substance external (Specification related to Raw materials by supplier)

PRCO*

PROD_COM

Legacy Rhodia

P0*

PROD_COM

Legacy Solvay

Products

PROD_COM - Commercial product

  • It concerns all the products manufactured by Solvay (to updated)  or by suppliers. They can be raw materials, intermediate products or finished products as well as R&D products.
  • Each Substance or Mixture holds a composition and for Solvay finished products, it also contains all the data needed to author a SDS.
  • A PROD_COM specification code starts by PRCO900…. , P0000... or P0X00... .
    • Products that begin with PRCO are legacy Rhodia products;
    • Products that begin with P0000 or P0X00 are legacy Solvay products;
    • A R&D Prod_Com specification code starts by 50000...

REAL_GRP - Real substance group

  • This specification is used to represent families of products/substances with a number of common properties.
  • A REAL_GRP specification code starts by 60000...

>> Refer to the page Inheritance concept / Family of products available in SDS Authoring > 1. SDS Key concepts.

PURE_SUB - Pure Substance

  • It concerns the pure substances, that is to say the ingredients entering the composition of a product. They have chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties. They also contain regulated information, inherited from the LIST_SUB (see hereafter). They constitute the finest level of the composition and as such, they do not hold a composition (unless exception - i.e. UVCB or reaction mass substances).
  • A PURE_SUB specification code starts by 100000….
  • Only EHS administration can edit such specifications, but anyone can display information on any PURE_SUB.

LIST_SUB - Listed substance

  • It concerns regulated substances, as for example those regulated by Annex VI of CLP regulation . They enable to store regulated data provided by the Regulatory database provider Verisk 3E.
  • A LIST_SUB code specification code starts by 200000….
  • Only EHS administration can edit such specifications, but anyone can display information on any PURE_SUB.

PURE_SUB and LIST_SUB are not manufactured, traded, or purchased.

CONT_SCEN - Contributing Scenario

  • Specification used to manage Exposure Scenarios (ES) in SAP.
  • It contains the data related to a “descriptor” (ERC, PROC* or PC). It represents only one Category – either Environment, or Human Health.
  • Normally, there should be one CONT_SCEN for each ERC or PROC/PC, but it is possible to group many descriptors, only if they belong to the same category (Environment or Human health).
  • On the opposite, it is also possible to switch a descriptor in 2 parts, for example if data are different according to the physical state.
  • The CONT_SCEN specification number starts with “4000…”: 400000000000 – 499999999999

Exposure Scenario

An Exposure Scenario describes how the exposure of humans and the environment to the substance can be controlled to ensure its safe use. It refers to an identified use, or group of similar identified uses, such as formulation, processing or production of an article.

Aggregation of Contributing Scenario specification (“4000…”) - beginning with the descriptor ERC.

Dangerous Goods

>> Refer to the page Dangerous Goods for more detailed information

DG_CL_SUB - Dangerous goods classification

  • They enable to manage Dangerous Goods information.
  • A DG_CL_SUB specification code starts by 0000...
  • Only DG administration and DG contacts can edit such specifications.

LS_UN_SUB* - UN listed substance

  • It concerns regulated UN substances. They enable to store regulated data provided by the Regulatory database provider Verisk 3e .
  • A LS_UN_SUB specification code starts by 0000...
  • Only DG administration can edit such specifications.
  • One DG_CL_SUB can send its information to more than 1 PROD_COM, for example, for products within a same families, or for products with similar compositions.
  • One LS_UN_SUB can send its information to more than one DG_CL_SUB . For example, the LS_UN_SUB UN1987_01 is used by many DG_CL_SUB, which differ because of the contributing hazardous ingredient(s) (hazard inducers) or the packing group.
