The aim of this page is to explain how the determination of the "BFC Activity 1" or the "BFC Activity 2" is done in the  Working Capital  depending on the type of accounts.

>> Back to Data and Reporting home page

The working capital is reported by Activity 1 & 2 . In PF1 the determination of the Activity 1 & 2  is done using the  Business Area.

When a posting is done without Business Area or with an obsolete Business Area, it is not possible to assign the posting to an Activity 1 & 2. Then the Business area breakdown tables are used to reclassify empty or obsolete Business Area to a target Business Area for the following headings:

  • Headings A31000, A34000, A37000, A39100, A39400, A39700 and L40800
  • Headings A49100 and L41160

The Business area breakdown tables can not be used for headings A41100 and L40100.

Table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB

There are 5 columns in the table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB

  1. Company code
  2. Heading - list of headings in the scope listed above
  3. Business Area (origin) - this field can be empty, there can be a business area code or '*'
  4. Amount proportion
  5. Business Area (target)

How does the table is working ?

There are 3 cases.

  1. There is a business area in the field Business Area (origin)
  2. The field Business Area (origin) is empty
  3. There is a star in the field Business Area (origin)

Case 1 - There is a business area in the field Business Area (origin)

Example:

In company 0001, for the heading L40800, when the posting is done with the business area 7360, it is replaced by the business area 8500.

Case 2 - The field Business Area (origin) is empty

In this case, whenever there is no business area in the posting for the heading A31000, the business area 8500 is assigned.

Table ZZF_BFC_COGSB

Case 3 - There is a star in the field Business Area (origin)

When there is a star * in the field Business Area (origin), then the table ZZF_BFC_COGSB is also used for the determination of the business area.

Example:

For company code 0125 / Heading A40160, there is a star in the field Business Area (origin).

There is a posting done with the business area 7250 in the heading A40160.

=> The program reads the table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB but doesn't find the business area 7250 in the column Business Area (origin)

=> But the program finds a star in the field Business Area (origin)

=> A list of "accurate business areas" is maintained in the table ZZF_BFC_COGSB by company:

  • In company 0125, there are 3 "accurate business areas": 7010, 7310, 7820 => it means that for these 3 business areas, the business area in the posting must be kept and is not replaced.
  • The business area 7250 is not in the list of "accurate business areas" maintained in the table  ZZF_BFC_COGSB for the company 0125.

Then it is replaced in the breakdown posting by the Business Area (target) maintained in the table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB, the business area 8590.

So whenever there is a posting done with the business area 7250 in the list of Heading with a star, the business area 7250 is replaced by the business area 8590.

In other words, in company 0125, for all postings done in a Heading with a star in the field Business Area (Origin), the business area is replaced by the Business Area 8590 except if the original business area is an "accurate business area" maintained in the table ZZF_BFC_COGSB, so except is the business area is 7010, 7310 or 7820.

Transversal to all the previous cases, we have the option of a proportional split:

When there is more that one target business area for the same combination “Company code”+”Heading”+“BA (orig.)”, the total amount is splitted by the “BA (targ.)” identified in the several entries, proportionally according to the “Amnt Prop.” and sequentially according to “No.”

Example, in the scope of case 3:

Considering the original documents linked with BFC Heading L40800 and business area 8500 line items sum a total of 151.038,04 EUR.In table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB there is a proportional split to four target business areas:

48% →BA 7250

4%   →BA 7360

1%   →BA 7470

47% →BA 7510

Since there is a "*" in the BA (orig.), the program reads table ZZF_BFC_COGSB.

The business area 8500 is not listed as an accurate business area for this company in table ZZF_BFC_COGSB, therefore the program goes back to table ZZF_BFC_BDGSB.

The total  amount of 151.038,04 EUR is allocated to the target business areas, following the corresponding percentages:

48% 151.038,04 → 72.498,26 (BA 7250)

 4%  151.038,04 →   6.041,52 (BA 7360)

 1%  151.038,04 →  1.510,38 (BA 7470)

47% 151.038,04 → 70.987,88 (BA 7510)

These tables should be often reviewed considering any relevant business change or impacting directly the legal entities included in it.
