Data Business Definition

Transport emission is part of scope 3, and can be segregated into 2 main parts: inbound (i.e. procurement of raw materials for plants) and outbound (i.e. delivery of products to our customers). In addition, there are inter-company transport moves where we move semi-finished or finished products between our plants and/o warehouses. Further, it can be split between air, maritime, road and rail each of them having a different carbon footprint calculated in CO2 per tonne-kilometre (gCO2/tkm) The Incoterms are dictating (party contracting the freight) whether the transport emission scope are part of the upstream (supplier), us or the downstream (customer). Capturing the data is complex due to the fragmentation of the supplier landscape
