As part of the ongoing IT separation of Syensqo, your Google accounts will be migrated into the new Syensqo Google Workspace instance on March 26th; with some targeted changes occurring sooner.
What does & does not get migrated
In General
In general, you can assume if its not listed below; that items and setting will move seamlessly to the new Syensqo Google Workspace. The most widely used items which are not moved are listed below; with special apps/data l types listed further down.
Gmail
Trash/Spam: Email items in both of these are not moved
Calendar
Secondary Calendars
Secondary Calendars are not migrated and must be manually exported before the cutover; and imported after. See the instructions here:
Room bookings
Chat
Group Chats
All Group Chats are not migrated and cannot be retained.
Chat Spaces
Any Chat spaces owned by Syensqo users; will not be migrated and all content will be lost. To ease in recreating them; you can export the Space members lists from within the Space's Manage Members screen.
Solvay and 3rd party owned Chat Spaces are unaffected by the move.
Google Drive
Most My Drive and Google Shared Drive files owned by Syensqo users will be moved on March 26th without changes to how they are accessible (ie. links, bookmarks, Drive attachments will all function normally.) However the following two notable exceptions apply:
Sharing access with “Anyone in Syensqo”
Any item you've set to share with “Anyone in Syensqo, will be reset to Restricted; meaning only users/groups specifically listed in its share list will retain access. You can set sharing back to Anyone in Syensqo after the migration.
Likewise, If you find that you cannot access a Drive file you previously could and are presented with a Request sharing screen like the one below; its likely that your lost access was based on this or a similar sharing rule that was cancelled by the move. You can request a new share to reestablish access.
Loss of Access to Solvay owned Drive files - STARTING MARCH 10
There are limited instances where you might still be collaborating on Solvay owned Drive files. Starting March 10 we will end any remain Syensqo access to Solvay owned Google Drive content. There are some exceptions for a select group of users authorized to continue collaboration; for more details see: TSA User access.
In their place, users will be provided Syensqo-only copies. In general, we have made an attempt to communicate to users when items they access are affected; but due to the nature of Google Drive, this is not possible in all cases. Additionally, an unfortunate impact of working with new Syensqo-only copies, is that all links/references to these items will no longer work (as they point to the Solvay owned originals); this includes Drive item bookmarks and links; as well as Google Sheet lookups to other sheet, etc.
How to find Syensqo-only Drive file copies
If you suddenly find that a Google Drive item you used to have access to is now blocked; this is most likely the cause. There are some exceptions for a select group of users authorized to continue collaboration; for more details see: TSA User access.
In most cases, a Syensqo-only copy of these Drive items has been made and is available to you. You can find items by:
- Search
- Google Drive - Redirection Tool: If you have a Google Drive link, bookmark, reference that no longer works, because it points to the blocked Solvay original version; you can enter the URL into the Redirection Tool, which will then provide you with the direct link to the new copy.
- Google Shared Drive: If the item was in a Google Shared drive you were a member of; you can likely find the new drive copy listed in your list of Shared Drives
