Most My Drive and Google Shared Drive files owned by Syensqo users will be moved on March 26th without changes, including how they are accessed (ie. links, bookmarks, Drive attachments will all function normally.) Essentially, you won't even notice they have been moved and you are now using them on Syensqo Google Workspace.

However the following two notable exceptions apply:

March 10: Transition from Solvay to Syensqo owned Drive files

(Replaced with Syensqo-Only copies)

There are limited instances where you might still be collaborating on Solvay owned Drive files. Starting March 10 we will end any remain Syensqo access to Solvay owned Google Drive content. There are some exceptions for a select group of users authorized to continue collaboration; for more details see: TSA User access.

In their place, users will be provided Syensqo-only copies. In general, we have made an attempt to communicate to users when items they access are affected; but due to the nature of Google Drive, this is not possible in all cases. Additionally, an unfortunate impact of working with new Syensqo-only copies, is that all links/references to these items will no longer work (as they point to the Solvay owned originals); this includes Drive item bookmarks and links; as well as Google Sheet lookups to other sheet, etc.

How to find Syensqo-only Drive file copies

If you find that a Google Drive item you previously accessed, is now blocked, presenting the screen below; this is most likely the cause.  There are some exceptions for a select group of users authorized to continue collaboration; for more details see: TSA User access

In most cases, a Syensqo-only copy of these Drive items has been made and is available to you. You can find these items by:

    • BEST OPTION: Google Drive - Redirection Tool:  Bookmark this tool and use it to quicky enter the broken Solvay version URL and be provided the working Syensqo link.
    • Search: If you know the name of the file, search for it; using the advanced search options to find it.
    • Google Shared Drive: If the item was in a Google Shared drive you were a member of; you can likely find the new drive copy listed in your list of Shared Drives

March 26: Sharing access with “Anyone in Syensqo”

Any item set to share with “Anyone in Syensqo, will be reset to Restricted; meaning only users/groups specifically listed in its share list will retain access. You can set sharing back to Anyone in Syensqo after the migration.

Likewise, If you find that you cannot access a Drive file you previously could and are presented with a You need access sharing screen like the one below; its likely that your lost access was based on this or a similar sharing rule that was cancelled by the move. You can request a new share to reestablish access.
