• In order to quickly start with creation of Article we need to know few things like what is space & template. 

Space :

  • Spaces are Confluence's way of organizing content into meaningful categories. Think of it like having different folders into which you can put your work. 
  • Spaces come in two main varieties: 

  • These spaces are found in the  Space Directory and are the areas where you create content and collaborate with others. Also called Global spaces.
  • Every Confluence user can set up a personal space which they can keep private or make public so others can view and edit. Personal spaces are listed in the People Directory and found under your personal profile

   Template :

  • A template is a predefined page that can be used as a framework when creating new pages. Templates are useful for setting a common style or format for a page.

  • In Confluence, there are two places to store your page templates:

 

  • These page templates are available in a specific space only. People who have Space Administrator permission can define templates via the space administration screen.

  • These page templates are available in every space on the site. People who have Confluence Administrator Permission can define the global templates via the Confluence Administration Console.

   Step-by-step guide

    • Follow the step–by–step procedure to build a page in confluence.

       Step - 1 :

      The first step in creation of a confluence is signing in with your user account.

      Click on the link "https://wiki.solvay.com"  and will direct to below screen shot.


      Step - 2 :

      Once you have logged in you can find “Spaces” in tool bar and select the specific space(From space directory) where you want to create your Page then click on create (In toolbar).


                                   (or)

      Once you have logged in you can find “Create” button in tool bar and just click on it.

      Shortcut for create is press <G + C>. Following screen should appear.


       

      select space : we need to select appropriate space for creation of our page (Eg: Stellar space).

      Template       : we need to choose one of the template’s according to our requirement (Eg: How-to-article).

                              So it leads to following screenshot.

       

      Name            : Provide the meaningful name for your page here.

      Label            : For identifying this article while searching.

         Now click on Create.

Step - 3 :

By providing all these info it leads to an editor space where you can build your article with editor tool bar and play around.

Once you are done with Article please make sure you SAVE it.!
