IT Budget
IT Budget
At IT Syensqo, we plan and validate our Annual Budget four months before the start of the new year through a process known as the "Budget Exercise", which will be explained in the next chapter. Our budget is approved on an annual basis, along with the IT Initiatives that the Leadership Team (LT) and the Business decide to invest in. These Initiatives are reviewed and prioritized quarterly. For initiatives that span more than one year, they are also reviewed and prioritized annually.
Even if we commit to a multi-year initiative, the budget is only approved for one year at a time. In subsequent years, the product manager must submit a new budget request and seek approval again for the following year.
Each year, the domains collaborate with the business to develop their roadmaps. These roadmaps must be validated by both IT Leadership and the business.
Decision Council & Roadmaps
You can also find the roadmaps organized by Decision Council here. The Decision Council divides responsibilities between domains, focuses on specific key topics, or, when necessary, brings together teams and key topics from different domains.
IT Yearly Budget Exercise
Every year, between July and September, Product Managers participate in the much-anticipated BUDGET EXERCISE. The purpose of this exercise is to prepare for the upcoming year by identifying which initiatives IT will invest in, determining the focus areas for the team, and providing a high-level estimate of the required investment.
This planning process requires close collaboration between the IT Leadership Team (IT LT) and the Business. The proposed plan is then reviewed and refined during Council Meetings within each Domain—occasionally, these councils may include representatives from multiple Domains to ensure broader alignment and input. While the core process remains consistent, each year brings new differences and opportunities for improvement.
IT Annual Budget
Below you can find our list of IT Initiatives, as well as the budget allocated to each initiative by year, starting in 2024. These budget files and the list of initiatives—collectively referred to as our IT Portfolio—are the results of the budget exercise conducted across Domains every year in September.
