The Discover phase focuses on building a clear and factual understanding of the current LabPC estate across all identified sites. The objective is to collect baseline information on existing server and storage capacity, network capability, security posture, cloud readiness, current operational challenges, and business continuity requirements.
During this phase, input will be gathered from LabPC Support, Network, Security, Hosting, FinOps, site IT teams, and business stakeholders. The discovery outputs will help identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and migration blockers before the project moves into detailed scoping and architecture.
Key outputs from this phase include the current-state assessment, site readiness view, cloud feasibility findings, current running cost baseline, DR/BC considerations, and an initial list of actions required to support future LabPC modernisation.
