Co$ta - Dashboard - Cost Package Definitions

>>Back to the Co$ta project home page

The cost package definitions was a recurring question during the Co$ta training sessions! Now we are sharing it with you.

The definitions are still under validation by the Excellence Center team, but the major part of them are updated. Keep in mind that some updates could come. We intend to translate the definitions to other languages, which will be available soon.

As part of One Solvay, and in the framework of Co$ta Dashboard, Purchasing and Finance collaborate to align their master data structures.

The New Key Concept is having a common Taxonomy, which we call Cost Packages.

A single dashboard used by different stakeholders: Finance, Purchasing, Cost Package Owners and Budget Owners to track costs in a transparent manner and allow a better decision making process.

The main driver that determines how a cost is classified in a given Cost Package is the Material Group (85% of the cases):

  • Directly : when you choose a Material Group in a shopping cart.
  • Indirectly : when you choose a material in the shopping cart,  all the materials are linked in their master data to a given Material Group.

In case of no purchase order (15%), we are using the cost element.

Many of you know this concept (Material Group), as users of SRM7 or directly creating Purchase Orders in SAP.

When you are playing your role in the procurement process and you choose the Material Group or the material, you are directly impacting the accuracy of the Co$ta Dashboard.
