STEP 1

Enter the transaction VS01 in the tool bar and press enter.

The following window appears, you must choose the Scale basis. Some business work on net weight basis (SSP), other business takes the gross weight into account.  

STEP 2

Select (D) for Gross weight or (E) for Net weight, then validate your choice or double click on your selected option.

Your selection appears in the initial screen 

Press ENTER or validate 

STEP 3

The following window appears; if you click on each field, a square appears just beside. Open the selection list for each field clicking on it. 

1.- Scale Type: The scales we use are up to a limit of weight.

EX: The haulier offers a price up to 27 TO and a different price up to 44 TO, choosing scale type (B) will allow us to fix these two weight limitations as the MAXIMALE weight for which the rate is applicable, thus the haulier will receive a price (Y) up to 27 TO and another price (W) up to 44 TO. 

Choose (B) then press enter or click on validate 

2.- Rounding rule : We do not use to enter a value in this field so it remains empty; but you can use a rounding rule for the scale base type to define that a value be rounded either up or down, for example. You can choose a suitable rounding rule from the selection list.

3.- Scale unit of meas: Choose an unit of measure from the selection list displayed, then double click on it, press enter or click on validate. We will choose (TO) for our example.

STEP 4

Once you have selected this, you must open the Calculation TAB.

The following screen appears.

1.- Enter a Calculat. rule (condition basis) on the Calculatn TAB page. You can choose gross weight (D). This rule defines the multiplication factor. You display the selection list in the same manner you did on the previous TAB. 

2.- You can also configure a MIN. or MAX value, this is useful if you are using a relative calculation type . In our example the haulier wants to be paid a price (Y) up to 27 TO. In the hypothesis he is loading only 1 TO he will receive only Y= 1TO x Y, this is a very low price for a complete truck, thus he wants to fix a minimum amount to be paid, this amount could be equal to 10Y for instance; thus, even if he is loading less than 10 TO, he will not be paid less than 10Y.

It could be that purchasing negotiates a MAX amount to be paid to the haulier, we can enter a price up to 44TO but we do not want to pay more than 35 TO loading, it means that the system will take an amount M= 35TO x W; thus, even if we fixed our scale up to 44TO, we will not pay more than M.

Select Min. Confgrable and/or Max. config if you need it clicking on the square beside each one. The selection of MIN, MAX or both depends only on what has been negotiated with the haulier. We will not select them for our example. Press Enter. 

Two new fields appear on the screen, you can select a rounding rule but like on the previous TAB we use to leave this field empty. 

1.- Enter a price unit and a value in the Price unit field. Once again it depends on what has been negotiated with the haulier, normally the price will be given in TO for liquid and solid bulk, and FTL; for LTL the price is given for 100 Kg. This can change from one tender to the other, you need to consult the Tariff Data provided by purchasing. 

2.- You can now enter the scales values; 27 TO  and 44 TO in our example, but you can enter as many values as  necessary; scales used for LTL tariffs use to have many values. 

3.- Enter a calculation type = A for absolute value (the system takes exactly the same amount you maintain on your scale, (Y) up to 27TO in our example). If you select calculation type = B the system will make a calculation (number of TO loaded x  Y). Select A if you do not need any calculation or B if the tariffs provided by purchasing are price/TON. You can choose A or B from the selection list clicking on the square beside each field as we shown before or just type the letter on the field.

4.- Give a name to your scale: FTL Peroxides 2015 27T/44T for instance. 

Save your scale 

STEP 1

Enter transaction VS01 in the tool bar and press ENTER. 

In the selection list for Scale basis choose (L3) Tariff zone of destination and press ENTER.

Press ENTER again in the initial screen or click on validate.

STEP 2

Complete the following fields on the Create scale: Overview screen.

1.- Give a name to your scale: FTL Peroxides Tariff Zone for instance. 

2.- Display the selection list for Scale type clicking on the field, them on the square beside as explained before and choose Scale type = X (To-scale); the alphanumeric value registered will be read by the system exactly the same manner you will write it in the scale,  then press ENTER. 

STEP 3

If you configured a MIN or MAX in your weight related scale, then you need to make the same selection in your Tariff zone related scale, you will find it in the calculation TAB. 

Save your scale 

STEP 1

Enter transaction VS02 in the tool bar. 

Press enter or click on validate 

STEP 2

In the Change Scale initial screen, enter the ID number of the scale you want to modify, then press enter or click on validate. 

You can change all the parameters you selected while you created your scale. For a weight related scale, the most ‘frequent changes’ are adding a new range in your scale or modifying the upper limit of one of your existing ranges. 

For a Tariff Zone related scale, the most ‘frequent changes’ are adding a new tariff zone, for this please assure you that the tariff zone you want to add if not already in your scale (you cannot duplicate values). For this, click on the yellow square ‘position’ in the Change scale: Overview screen.

A popup window appears, enter the tariff zone you want to register, then press ENTER or click on validate                

The system leads us to the position where our Tariff Zone is supposed to be. 

STEP 3

If the Tariff Zone you need to add is not in this position, you need to add it to the scale 

You can now save your changes.
