Hello Everyone,

We agreed last year with the GBU HSE Managers to release the final procedures in two "batches," one in March and one in June.  For March, we are releasing five procedures, three of which are updates of existing procedures and two of which are new.  The procedures are:

  • IND-HSE-IH-05:  Group Requirement for Chemical Risk Assessment and Management (Update including Risk Sheet 1 process)
  • IND-HSE-06: HSE Reviews and Assessment of Investment Projects (Consolidate 4 existing procedures and align with new CAPEX-01)
  • IND-HSE-04: HSE Compliance and Group Requirements Audit (Update; Introduce the concept of combining Regulatory and Internal Group requirement audits)
  • IND-HSE-OH-08: Group Requirements in Occupational Health (Specifies the Group Requirements for risk based medical surveillance and actions to protect employees' health)
  • IND-HSE-16: Group Safety Objectives and Safety Excellence Initiatives (Specifies formally the Group HSE Objectives (including the procedure implementation plan) and Safety Excellence Initiatives)

With the release of these procedures, a total of 16 procedures/standards are either eliminated or converted to guidelines.  At the end of March, we still have a total of 55 HSE procedures in InDocs.  Once we issue the remaining procedures in June, we will be able to eliminate 9 more procedures bringing our total number of procedures to 46 plus the Group policy that was issued last year.

The figure below shows the procedures that will ultimately make up the HSE Manual.  The procedures we selected to create and/or keep are focused on addressing the minimum requirements necessary to manage major Group risks.

I appreciate all the efforts you have made in implementing the SLSRs and other procedures released last year.  Based on feedback from your GBU HSE Managers, we have extended the deadline for implementation of the procedures as well as provide more flexibility for you to decide on the order for implementation.  The updated schedule is included in the newly released IND-HSE-16 procedure and is also available here.

Thanks for your support,

James
