Two tragic incidents occurred in China in the last two weeks (10 days apart).
In the first incident, 78 people lost their life and at least 79 people are reported to be either critically or seriously injured. The precise cause of the explosion is not yet known. "The powerful explosion in the eastern city of Yancheng toppled several buildings in the industrial park, blew out windows of nearby homes and even dented metal garage doors.
It prompted the State Council, China's cabinet, to order a nationwide inspection of chemical firms including risk assessments to identify safety hazards."
In the second incident, seven people lost their lives and five others were injured.
"A plant explosion in China’s Jiangsu province killed seven people on Sunday, authorities said, the second deadly blast in the province this month as Beijing begins a nationwide industrial safety inspection campaign."
"The blast happened at 7.12 AM in an outdoor area of the premises of Kunshan Waffer Technology in the Kunshan bonded zone in Jiangsu province, the local government said.
According to reports, the source of the explosion was a container in a yard used for storing scrap metal, and the fire spread to nearby production facilities."
