To Solvay Site managers
Hello Everyone,
Through the first three quarters of this year, fewer colleagues have been injured than during the same period in any previous year. This is a great result and something to celebrate.
October has started out with two H-MTA’s, a broken finger requiring a pin to hold the break in place and a chemical burn (second degree) requiring debridement (removal of the blistered skin) with the placement of artificial skin to aid the healing process. There is also one other injury (muscular skeletal) that has the potential to become an MTA. These injuries are a reminder that just because we are having fewer injuries, it does not mean we will be able to maintain or improve upon this performance in the future. To do this, we must create the right environment on our sites where working safely and looking out (i.e. caring) for one another is natural – just our normal way of working.
Remember, it is all about YOU, the Leader of the Site!
YOU are the key to creating the right environment on your site.
YOU are the one who can lead change.
YOU are the one who sets the expectations for your site.
YOU are the one your team looks to for guidance.
YOU are the one your team wants to be present.
YOU are the one who makes all the difference.
Without YOU, we will not achieve our goal of everyone going home unharmed, each day. Don’t forget, the lowest standard you demonstrate or accept is the highest standard you can expect from your team. Let’s raise the bar and make the 4th quarter one we can all celebrate.
Be Safe!
James
