The governance of AppSheet at Solvay has been designed between Industrial and SBS IS Applications teams.

 

Appsheet service description

Context

 

Appsheet is a Rapid Application Development Platform (RAD) focused on applications that can be run in mobile devices or in desktop computers using a web browser.

It creates a user interface that can be connected with data stored in Google Spreadsheets or Smartsheet documents. This user interface is called "Appsheet app"

The Appsheet app can be configured and tested with little effort, what makes it an ideal platform for rapid application development, with quick prototyping and fast development pace.


Definitions

 

  • AppSheet: Software as a service in the cloud that allows the creation of mobile applications connected with data stored in Google Sheets.

  • AppSheet App: Each mobile application that you can develop using AppSheet.

  • AppSheet Shell Application: Generic standard application present in Android Play Store and iOS App Store that allows you to run an Appsheet App.

  • Whitelabel app: It's an AppSheet App that has been compiled and can be installed and run on mobile devices without having to install the AppSheet Shell Application first.

Definition and scope

 

Appsheet service allows Solvay employees to design and use mobile and web applications that are developed and run via web service provided by www.appsheet.com company.

This service is responsible of:

 

  • Managing the catalog of AppSheet applications in use inside Solvay

  • Defining the guidelines for AppSheet development

  • Ensuring that each application has a support contact, either Collaboration team, Industrial function or a key user

  • Providing help and resources for the development of new AppSheet apps based on available resources and priorities.

  • Manage the contract with AppSheet and license activation

  • Deployment of AppSheet apps to production and other operations related to the Appsheet service

  • Periodic control of the AppSheet usage to assure the proper usage of the service
