Drupal is content management software. It's used to make many of the websites and applications you use every day. Drupal has great standard features, like easy content authoring, reliable performance, and excellent security. But what sets it apart is its flexibility; modularity is one of its core principles. Its tools help you build the versatile, structured content that dynamic web experiences need.

Q: What is Drupal?

A: Drupal is a new tool that will replace Tridion for all Solvay Internet websites.

This tool works as a content management system in which we can create/delete/modify all of the website’s content.

All of the content on a Drupal website is stored and treated as "nodes".
A node is any piece of individual content, such as a page, press release, article, location or a contact entry.

As a solvay.com contributor, you will have access to 2 environments:

Test environment:Production environment:

This is the “sandbox” platform which will enable you to test Drupal features and to practice whenever you need.

You can easily recognize this environment thanks to the yellow banner at the top of the back-office:

The test environment is updated after each technical release. It means all contents you might have populated could disappear since content cannot be migrated from test to production environment.

Thus we advise you to not create or prepare real content into this environment but to use the “draft” feature available in production.

Also, as it is also the environment used by developers to test their development, you might notice regularly some bugs or changes compared to the production environment.

This is the environment to use when you need to create content for solvay.com.

You can use this environment also if you want to prepare your content by using the draft options before publishing live.

This environment is visually different from test environment with the red banner at the top.
