Main concepts before requesting an access
Before requesting an access you will need to know :
- What Profile you need.
- What Group you should be part of OR what projects / connections you need to access.
Different Profils
There are 3 types of profiles that can be created (Solvay has no Explorers Licences as of Dec 2017) :
- Reader: Can view dashboards & insights (charts), you can access web applications.
- Data Analyst: Has access to create datasets and visualizations, access to visual recipes of DSS projects BUT cannot do code (SQL, Python, R, Notebooks) or use the visual machine learning (lab).
- Data Scientist: Has complete rights to work on advanced machine learning DSS concepts.
Profils are limited by the available licences so it's important to only request the one you need.
For reference, as of Dec 2017 here are the licences at Solvay and approximate prices:
| Profil | Licences | Approx Price |
|---|---|---|
| Reader | Unlimited | Free |
| Explorer | 0 | ~ 480 Euro / Year |
| Data Analyst | 26 | ~ 1440 Euro / Year |
| Data Scientist | 17 | ~ 3800 Euro / Year |
Access to Groups, Projects & Connections
By default in DSS you will not see any projects and will only be able to access data connections that you create or that are public.
Accesses to projects & connections are managed in DSS by "Groups".
- A user can be in one or more groups.
- Each project and connection can be accessed by defined groups.
Therefore, if you need to access specific projects or specific data sources, you will need to specify a "Group". If you do not know the group, explain what projects or connections you need in your request.
