Neptune applications are made of 2 parts which require different skill-sets:

• The User Interface (UI), corresponding to the visual part of the application. It's an assembly of Web UI elements, such as wordings, input fields, buttons, forms, tables, images, ... Most of theses UI elements, coming from the SAPUI5 library, are bound to data objects of the SAP back-end system. In addition to SAPUI5 knowledge, this part of the application requires Web design skills, such as HTML5, JavaScript and CSS.
• The Application Class. It's an ABAP class that contains the business logic of the application. It's a pure ABAP program, with all the advantages and constraints of ABAP programming.

On the opposite of AppSheet, which is based on Google Sheet, limited to some "out-of-the-box" behaviors, and which can be taken in charge by "citizen developers", Neptune requires deeper programming skills, but has virtually no limits in term of integration with SAP and mobile functionality. That's why Neptune developments are taken in charge by SBS-IS and organized as small, agile, SAP development projects.

In order to use a Neptune application, you need a "Neptune Client" installed on your device. It can be downloaded from MobileIron catalog. The "Neptune Client" can be considered as a role-based launcher, called "Launchpad", from which you can see the applications you're allowed to use, each application corresponding to a specific tile.
