Forecast Redirects
The forecast redirect functionality provides the ability to move or copy forecast data for all time series or a subset of time series for a group of customer-SKUs (CSKUs). When performing a move operation, the Customer Preference Guide (CPG) is also updated to reflect the new preferences if the Adjusted History (ADJH) time series is included in the operation.
Forecast Redirect Views
The following ADM views define and log forecast redirects:
Forecast Redirects
This view is used to define and process a forecast move or copy operation.
- Move - Moves data from the source to the target Customer-SKUs ('CSKUs') for all time series in the specified time series set. If the Adjusted History (ADJH) time series is included, the CPG will also be updated so that new data imported via the interfaces will be put on the new preferred CSKU combination.
- Copy – Copies the demand data from the source to the target CSKUs for all time series in the specified time series set. The source data is left unchanged and no updates are made to the CPG table.
- Time Phased – A time-phased redirect enables a future period to be defined that specifies the period when a future material, package, or location change will occur. The time-phased redirect will keep all history/forecast on the existing CSKUs prior to the redirect period, but shift forecast data to the new CSKUs on and after the redirect period. Once the redirect period is reached, all history and forecast will shift to the new CSKUs.
Filter Details
This related view in the Forecast Redirects follower pane defines the filter used to identify which CSKUs to redirect from.
Redirect Details
This related view in the Forecast Redirects follower pane. The Redirect Details view shows all Customer-SKU combinations impacted by a defined redirect.
Forecast Redirect History
The view shows all redirects that have been processed. It has the same related follower pane views (Filter Details and Redirect Details) as the Forecast Redirects view.
Creating and Running Forecast Redirects
To set up and run a redirect (move or copy):
- Open the Forecast Redirects view
- Click Add to define a new forecast redirect or copy, fill in the appropriate fields, and then click Save.
- Status: Automatically populated field indicating the status of the redirect - "Pending" for unprocessed redirects; "In Progress" for time-phased redirects that haven't yet reached the specified redirect period.
- Type: Defines whether the redirect of forecast data will be a move, a copy, or a time-phased move from the source to the target CSKU combinations.
- Redirect Date: Leave blank or set to current date for a move or copy type redirect. Set to a future date (based on period start dates) when the redirect will occur for a time-phased redirect.
- Redirect Filter: Set to "*Redirect Specific*". The CSKU combinations that the demand data will be moved or copied from will be defined in the Filter Details related view.
- Affected CSkus: Automatically populated field that displays the number of CSKUs that will be impacted by the redirect once "Update Redirect Details" is run.
- To Material / Package / Location / Customer: Defines the CSKU combinations that the demand data will be moved or copied to.
- Scale Factor: Allows scaling to be defined for a move or copy operation. Typically, this value will be left at the default equal to 1. However, there may be instances, particularly when copying a forecast where the forecast needs to be scaled. For example, if there is a new product where the demand pattern is expected to be like an existing product but with higher or lower volumes, the scaling factor can be used.
- Time Series Set: This defines which time series will be moved or copied. Typically, this is set to *ALL*, but there are instances where a move or copy should only be applied to a subset of time series (See below for information about configuring time series sets). Note that this is not applicable for time-phased redirects.
- Last Processed: Automatically populated field capturing the date and time of when a move or copy operation was processed.
- Open the follower pane, select the row of the redirect being configured, and update the Filter Details tab to define the "From" CSKUs. Any product, package, location, or customer related attribute can be used to define the redirect filter.
- Run Update Redirect Details on the Forecast Redirects view for the selected redirect. This will update the affected CSkus for the defined redirect. Review the Affected CSkus field and the Redirect Details tab in the follower pane to confirm the redirect is configured as intended. Note that the Refresh Data button on the Redirect Details view may need to be run to ensure the current CSKU data is being displayed.
- Select the row of the redirect to process and click the Process Selected Redirect button.
- For a move or copy type: This will perform the move or copy process, update the CPG records to the new preference(s), and change the status to "Processed" so that it shows up in the Forecast Redirect History view.
- For a time phased type:
- Initially, when the time-phased redirect is run, the data on or after the redirect date will be moved to the "To" CSKUs, new CPG records added as necessary for the "To" CSkus and the status changed to "In Progress". Data prior to the redirect date will remain on the "From" CSKUs.
- As the model rolls forward, the move of data on or after the redirect date for "In Progress" time-phased redirects will be rerun in the overnight process and/or when a new statistical forecast is generated. This ensures that future data beyond the redirect period is on the "To" CSkus.
- Once the redirect date is reached, all data will be redirected to the "To" CSkus, the CPG will be updated further for the "From" CSKUs, and the status will be changed to "Processed".
