Production Wheel
Heading
All industry actors aim at finding the optimum between minimising net working capital while manufacturing products in a cost-effective manner.
A Product Wheel is a structured, regularly repeating sequence of the production of all of the materials to be made on a specific piece of equipment within a process system or on an entire production line. Objective is to maintain shortest reasonable product wheel cycle time without sacrificing customer service while optimizing production (changeover cost included) & inventory carrying costs. Product wheel is defined to meet usual demand needs.
Outcome of product wheel is critical to rest of organization as it will impact frequency of production of finished goods hence requiring visibility of this outcome to align across E2E value Chain (industrial, planning, sales activities …)
