Thanks to the global pandemic which allows many of us to explore a new way of working - perform & collaborate remotely. This recalls me Winston Churchill & Rahm Emmanual famously saying “don’t waste a crisis,” Solvay has decided to unleash “a better normal” by integrating mobile working (MW) into our Group work standard as our people have expressed a strong appetite for it.

Starting from the consultation launched for Admin & Hybrid Sites plus some R&I Centers in June 2020, today (April 2021) we have 11 countries already have MW local policy in place and some of them already got implemented. Surely many will follow shortly.

Along this new journey, we have witnessed that productivity & efficiency are not sacrificed during remote collaboration, and as a Group we’ve seen our beliefs - purposeful responsibility, unity not uniformity, and a passion for performance - brought more clearly to life.

My safe workplace

In parallel while mobile working, it is important to keep in mind four basic elements to ensure your safety and well-being.

Well-being: Ensure you are achieving the right work-life balance and disconnecting on evenings, weekends and holidays. Get enough sleep and exercise and look after your physical and mental health.

IT tools and security: Use the designated equipment provided to you, follow the Group security and IT standards (tips and news) and know the best practices.

Ergonomics: Make sure you are working in good ergonomic conditions. Find a dedicated working space and a comfortable chair. Keep good posture throughout the working day and schedule breaks. You can find more tips here

Solvay ONE Planet: Stop office waste! Think about how you can protect the planet while working by implementing our stop office waste program in your home. All together, we can really have a big positive impact.

As we encourage you to find out what suits you in the day to day to perform at your best, we will continue to lead transformation and change within the group to make room for a new caring and daring mindset.
