Japan's Nippon Shokubai plans to shut its new acrylic acid (AA) and super absorbent polymer (SAP) units at Cilegon, Indonesia in end-November for inspection works, a source familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.
The company recently started up its new 80,000 tonne/year AA unit as well as its new 90,000 tonne/year SAP unit on 20 August as scheduled, according to the source.
Nippon Shokubai is currently conducting trial runs at both units, and will shut them in end-November for around three weeks, the source said.
During the shutdown period, inspection works will be done to rectify any issues encountered, with commercial operations expected by December, the source added.
