Plug-in installation and Access

Please refer to Getting Started section.

Overview

Toolbar

If you are using Internet Explorer (IE) browser and have the Qlikview PlugIn Installed you should see this toolbar : 

  

Otherwise, if using another browser like Chrome or you don't have the plug in installed, the toolbar will look like this : 

As the IE PlugIn toolbar offers many more features, we strongly recommend to use it.

Filtering

Making a selection/filter

To make selection, click on the values you wish to select.

  • The selected data will turn green. Values compatible with the selection are white and unrelated values are grey.

  • To select more than one value, hold the CTRL key while selecting the values.
  • Each selection also feeds the "Current Selections" 

Excluding a value

To exclude one value, first filter on it, then right click on that value in the current selection value and choose "Select Excluded" :

 To clear all selections, click the “Clear” button from the tool bar.

You can also use the "Clear All" button of the Current Selections Screen

Uncleared Selections

Note that it's possible some selections cannot be cleared : that's for the cases where the dashboard data would make no sense without a selection (Ex : If multiple currencies are available you need to select one)

Clearing  a single selection

  • You can use the eraser button in the Current Selections window :

  • You can click on the selected value in the list (this will un-select it).
  • You can click on the Clear Selection icon in the list (Not available on all dashboards) 

Clearing the previous selection

You can also use the Back button in the toolbar to revert the last selection done

Lock/Unlock

Lock function is to prevent selections made being accidentally remove or clear while navigating within the page. To activate locking of selections:

Global Lock/Unlock via the toolbar

1 - Choose Lock from tool bar to lock all selections, preventing them from being cleared by mistake. 
  When Lock is activated, the selections with locked cells are blue.
2 - To release all selections, choose Unlock from the tool bar. 

Individual Selection Lock/Unlock

Above are steps for performing Lock and Unlock for all selections. It is possible to Lock and Unlock selection individually:
1 - In "Current Selection" box, put your mouse over the field which you want to lock
 2 - Right click you mouse and then choose Lock command from the float menu. This will lock the selected field values of this specific field.  

When Lock is activated, the corresponding light will display in blue. See SnapshotMonth below.

To unlock the selection in one field, choose Unlock from the float menu of the field containing it:  

Search

Global Search

To search on the whole dashboard, you usually have a "Search" text bar : 

You can type the searched value and a list of different categories containing the name appears and you

can choose  which dimension you want from the list.

Note that * is used in the search to replace any number of characters. Ex : *doc* will return all data with doc in it. *doc will return any data that ends with doc.

Search in list

  • For some large lists, it's possible to search directly in the lists. Just click on the list, then start typing :

  • In some list boxes you may also have a search icon :  

Printing and Exporting

Via the chart caption bar icons

Chart Toolbar

The print, export, search... options in the chart toolbar are not always active. That depends on the design of the dashboard.

  • To print, click
  • To export data to excel , click
  • To maximize, double-click on minimized icon to launch
  • To minimize, double-click


Via right click on the chart

  • To export as image, right-click on the chart / object and select “Copy to Clipboard > Image”



  • To export the data into excel, right click on the chart / object and select "Export to Excel"

Note that if you export to Excel a chart, it will export the underlying data into an excel table. Not as an excel chart.

Navigation

Drill-down & Cycle Buttons

If available, click on the cycle icon  to display other dimensions, or drill-down button  to the next variable in the chart.

Change columns order

In most tables (straight or pivot) you can change the order of the columns : 

  1. Click and drag: Blue arrow appears
  2. Place the pointer where you want and release the click
  3. The columns are switched

Chart-switch (Fast Change)

If available, you will be able to see the “Fast Change” icon, located at right top corner of the chart.
Click the icon to switch between charts. 

 

Bookmark

Add a bookmark

To save your selections for recurrence use, click “Bookmarks > Add Bookmark” from the tool bar.

Save it under your desire name.

Delete a bookmark

To delete a bookmark, first, you will have to select a bookmark, then, “Remove Bookmark”
