Inserting a Query

When you first start Analysis, there is no data, or query inside the excel file. The first step is then to insert a query.

1 - First, select the empty cell where you will want to insert your data (Ex : A1)

2 - Go to the "Analysis" menu

 3 - Click on "Insert"

4 - Select your source system : See the guide on which server to select.

  • BW Production - WBP : This is Rhodia Legacy BW server.
  • BW Production - PQ1 : This is the Solvay Legacy BW server.
  • BI - Production - PQ2 : This is the BI HR BW server.

Server list may be a bit different as this depends on your current saplogon.ini file but the server codes (Ex : WBP) should be the unchanged.

5 - Log in using your BW user and password and click OK

6 - Optional : Click on "Options" to be able to change the language (Only FR/EN Supported).

7 - The "Select Data Source" window opens. Here you can either search for the queries by description/technical name (Search Tab) or via browsing in the roles.

When you click on "Insert", it will show the "Select Data Source" option but also up to 10 queries from your history

If you already connected to BW then it will not ask for the server selection again.

Account

No Account ? See the "Getting an account" section.

Language

Only English is fully supported. Part of WBP content will also be translated into FR and PT.

Roles

The "Roles" are folders which contain the core queries. The roles you have reflect your access so if you are not seeing a given role it means you do not have access to it and need to request it (See Getting an Account section).

8 - Select the query you want to insert and click OK. This will launch the query and a prompt will appear for you to select the data (See next sections on prompts).

Open a workbook ( on the server )

Open a workbook ( saved on your local drive )

You need to first open "Analysis for Microsoft Excel", then open your BW file by File --> Open or Recent

If you first open your BW file, then open  "Analysis for Microsoft Excel", there will be two Excel opened and you can't refresh your BW file.

The best way to get IT support is to use the new Service One Platform.
