Measuring or predicting the Partial Discharge Inception Voltage is rather tricky and challenging. Recently, we acquired the software Flux, a multiphysics tool from Altair which allows us to perform electromagnetic, electric, and thermal simulations. The tool was tested with the idea to get a better understanding about PDIV (globally speaking) and to try predicting the PDIV performances, intrinsically and in real applications (slot liner in magnet wires…). It was also a way to show its capabilities (and its limitations). The main results of these simulations are gathered in this document .
