Purpose

This position paper presents Syensqo’s strategic vision to harmonize its Transport Management (TM) landscape by consolidating multiple fragmented freight collaboration tools into a single, globally integrated solution—BN4L. The goal is to streamline operations, enhance carrier collaboration, and support Syensqo’s mission of advancing humanity through scientific breakthroughs and operational excellence.

Scope

The scope of this initiative covers the transition from several regional and mode-specific TM tools to one unified platform. Specifically, it includes:

  • Replacing Transwide (Europe) with BN4L, providing global coverage for all transport modes.
  • Upgrading BluJay to TMS4S, with a limited scope for road transport in the US and Canada.
  • Expanding BN4L to cover carrier collaboration for ocean and air in the US and Canada, and to provide global coverage for all modes, including regions currently not integrated with any collaboration tool.
  • Harmonizing middleware from four separate systems to a single middleware (CPI), simplifying integration and data management.

Business Context

Syensqo operates in a global, multi-modal logistics environment, serving industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, and healthcare. Historically, the company has relied on a fragmented set of TM tools:

  • Transwide: All modes, Europe
  • BluJay: All modes, US & Canada
  • TMS4S: Road, US & Canada
  • BN4L: All modes, Global (target state)
  • Rest of World (RoW): All modes, currently no carrier collaboration tool

This fragmentation has led to operational inefficiencies, limited visibility, and challenges in standardizing processes across regions. The planned harmonization will address these issues by providing a single point of collaboration for all carriers and modes, supported by a unified middleware platform.

Need

The need for this harmonization is driven by several critical factors:

  • Operational Efficiency: Consolidating tools reduces complexity, manual intervention, and the risk of errors.
  • Global Coverage and Visibility: A unified platform enables end-to-end visibility and consistent processes worldwide.
  • Scalability: A global solution can adapt to business growth and evolving market requirements.
  • Enhanced Carrier Collaboration: Improved tools foster stronger partnerships with logistics providers.
  • Cost Optimization: Streamlining systems lowers IT and operational costs.
  • Standardization and Compliance: Harmonized processes support regulatory compliance and best practice adoption.

Conclusion

Syensqo’s commitment to harmonizing its TM landscape through the adoption of BN4L and a single middleware platform marks a significant step toward operational excellence. This initiative will deliver improved efficiency, visibility, and collaboration, positioning Syensqo to better serve its customers and partners globally. Continued focus on this transformation will ensure Syensqo remains agile, competitive, and aligned with its mission to advance humanity through scientific exploration.
