Purpose

This position paper presents Syensqo’s strategic vision to harmonize its Transport Management (TM) landscape by consolidating multiple fragmented freight collaboration tools into a single, globally integrated solution. The goal is to streamline operations, enhance carrier collaboration, event tracking and Freight Invoicing.

Vision

The simplification of the multiple fragmented and not integrated freight tools to one Global integrated platform.

Scope

The scope of this initiative covers the transition from several regional and mode-specific TM tools to one unified platform. Specifically, it includes:

  • Replacing Transwide (Europe) with BN4L, providing global coverage for all transport modes.
  • Reducing scope of to road transport in the US and Canada only for SPP and P&C.
  • Expanding BN4L to cover carrier collaboration for ocean and air for SPP and P&C in the US and Canada, and to provide global coverage for all modes, including regions currently not integrated with any collaboration tool.
  • Harmonizing middleware from four separate systems to a single middleware (CPI), simplifying integration and data management.

Analysis: As shown in the Diagram and table above,  the Carrier Collaboration, TMS activities and Freight incaving are very fragmented with Transwide serving Europe only for one GBU and BluJay serving only USA &Canada for all GBUs but CASS does invoicing in US& Canada only for two GBUs

Analysis: As shown in the Diagram and table above,  the Carrier Collaboration, TMS activities and Freight incaving are consolidated into one Global Platform BN4L, with the only exception of TMS4S and CASS being used for 2 GBUs in USA & Canada. Additional the middleware would be harmonized to SAP Integration Suite.

  • Carrier Collaboration:

The Following Functionalities are covered as part of Carrier Collaboration

    1. Transport Booking
    2. Carrier confirmation/ rejection
    3. Slot Booking

SAP BN4L will will be the Global Primary Solution for Carrier Collaboration in SyWay to-be Landscape for all modes of transport and for all GBUs.

The Only exception to this is that TMS4S will be used for  Performance & Care, Specialty Polymers in the region of USA & Canada. The decision to keep TMS4S (upgrade of BluJay) active in to be landscape for 2 GBUs was to keep business continuity after detailed analysis with the Business users.

Note that Composites would be using BN4L globally and even in USA & Canada since in the As-Is situation CM was connected to BluJay however they never productively used it.
