Context

Within the SyWay Source-to-Pay transformation, supplier collaboration must support a wide variety of operational processes including purchase order collaboration, shipment notifications, service confirmations, invoice exchange, and supplier lifecycle activities.

Standard collaboration platforms such as SAP Business Network (Ariba) provide strong capabilities for mature suppliers with high transaction volumes. However, many operational collaboration processes required by Syensqo are either not supported or require complex integrations and additional licensing.

To address these gaps, Syensqo introduces a custom Supplier Portal built on SAP BTP, acting as the primary digital collaboration interface for suppliers not enabled on Ariba Business Network.

The portal integrates directly with SAP S/4HANA backend processes and exposes operational capabilities that are currently unavailable in standard procurement collaboration platforms.

This approach enables a flexible supplier collaboration architecture, combining SAP Business Network for selected suppliers and the BTP Supplier Portal for the broader supplier ecosystem.

The Supplier Portal initiative is part of SyWay Release 4 within the S2P – Source-to-Pay workstream.

Supplier Collaboration Architecture

The Supplier Portal will serve as the primary collaboration channel by default, while SAP Business Network will continue to be used for selected suppliers.

Supplier communication channels will be determined during supplier onboarding and will remain fixed for the supplier lifecycle unless formally changed.

This hybrid architecture allows Syensqo to balance:

  • operational flexibility

  • supplier adoption

  • automation for high-volume suppliers

  • long-tail supplier accessibility

Functional Scope of the Supplier Portal

The Supplier Portal provides operational collaboration capabilities integrated with SAP S/4HANA.

The portal exposes the following collaboration processes.

Technical Architecture

The Supplier Portal is implemented as a custom application on SAP BTP.

Core technical components include:

  • SAP BTP front-end applications

  • CAP services exposing APIs

  • Integration with SAP S/4HANA via SAP Integration Suite

  • Role-based supplier authentication and authorization

  • Document exchange and workflow management

  • Logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities

  • Multi-language support

This architecture enables seamless integration with core procurement, finance, inventory, and quality processes.
