South Korea’s Samsung Total Petrochemical plans to shut its 650,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit in March 2014 for maintenance, a company source said on the sidelines of the CBI Styrene conference on Wednesday.
The unit, at Daesan, is expected to be shut for around three weeks, the source added.
The company operates another 280,000 tonne/year SM unit at the same location. That unit will operate normally during this time.
