Steps to edit a product in multiple ways to help users save time

Step-By-Step


Step 1 - Use inheritence

Inheritence is the concept of applying a value a folder level, that get cascasded automatically to all products below in the hiearchy.

Only certain attributes have been defined with inheritance. E.g. Brand Name (Public)


  1. Double click on the folder (this is not a product)
  2. In the header it will show you are in the correct location
  3. Make the change
  4. Save
  5. All products below in the folder were the attribute was empty (e.g. Brand name empty) will be populated from the value filled in the higher folder.

Step 2 - Mass edit

Select all products you want to edit. 

  1. You can select all products from a search by clicking on top left tick box
  2. Select Marked 

Select Mass Editing

Confirm you want me make the change

You will have a message letting yow how many products you are changing

Select the attribute you want to update

  1. Make the change (in this example select a brand)
  2. Save your changes


WARNING: with this method you applying the same value to all products selected. Any values existing will be deleted.

This will NOT work for attribute like Market or Product Functions in the event you want

to add a value to an set of values already existing. It will simply replace all previous value by the new one.

Step 2 - Distribute content

Click "Check Out"

Step 3 - Excel update

Select the products you want to extract

Select the view with the attribute you want to extract

Select the products (top left to select all products)

Click bottom left on Marked drop down, and select "Export as Excel File"



You will get a download link

Click to access the file


When opening excel, you will get a warning message regarding Extensions.  You can open the file anyway
