Error example in which costing relevancy is applied
In the BOM
One component of the BOM was in error while calculating the standard cost estimate for the finished product, in transaction CK11N:
This error happened because the component’s master data (transaction mm03) was not correctly maintained (in this case it was missing the valuation class, which determines the account used):
Since this component was not intended to be considered on the standard cost estimate, the option was to remove the ‘’tick’’ on the costing relevancy indicator. This action does not remove the component from the BOM, but considers the component not relevant for costing, so it will not appear on the standard cost estimate calculation and will cause no error.
In the Routing
While displaying a cost estimate in transaction CK13N, it was seen that it was not considering costs with activities, even though it was known that they existed in the routing:
In this case, the action was to access transaction CA22 (change mode) and ‘’tick’’ the costing relevancy activities that should be considered as relevant for costing:
Where to find this indicator
In the BOM
- Go to transaction CS03 to display the BOM. Insert material, plant and BOM usage. If you want, you can open it at a certain period of validity.
2.Double-click on the line relative to the alternative BOM that you want to display.
3. Double-click on the column item related to the component (material) that you want to display.
4.Go to tab ‘’Status/Lng Text’’ and find the ‘’CostingRelevncy’’ indicator.
In the Routing
- Go to transaction CA23 to display the Routing. Insert material, plant and press enter.
2.Double-click on the column relative to the activity that you want to view.
3.Find the ‘’CostingRelevncy’’ indicator.
Interpretation
- A BOM item or operation for which the indicator for relevancy to costing is X, is fully relevant to costing;
- A BOM item or operation without an indicator for relevancy to costing, is not relevant to costing at all.
