BOMs

The BOM (Bill of Materials) is used to indicate the components of a manufactured product.  Site planners are recommended to understand how it is created and modified.  In some organizations, the creation of BOM is under responsibility of the production team.

This contains :

  • A base quantity
  • List of components
  • Quantity of each component to produce the base quantity

Rate routings

In most PF1 plants, rate routings are used to manage capacity utilization and calculate production costs.

The rate routing allows for declaring production via a cost collector with repetitive manufacturing.

The rate routing contains the following minimum information:

  1. The resource where the product is produced. This represents the production line and should accurately reflect the reality.
  2. The production rate: This indicates how fast the production line is operating for that specific material

Production version

The production version is the information used by controlling to calculate production costs and also used by the site planner to manage the scheduling. It is a combination of the BOM and the rate routings.

There can be multiple production versions for a single mateiral:

  • It could be more than one BOM for one material : if different ingredients can be used to produce the same material.  In that case, 2 alternatives BOM’s are created and we need 2 production version
  • It could be more than one rate routing for one material : if 2 different production line can produce the same material.  In that case, 2 rate routings are created

You need then 4 production versions :

  • Alt BOM1 with rate routing 1
  • Alt BOM 2 with rate routing 1
  • Alt BOM 1 with rate routing 2
  • Alt BOM 2 with rate routing 2
