Work in WBD

Save the old data

Jean-Louis Tartarin sends a request to the Support Team (RHD-RCS SUPPORT BW) to update the attributes of Value Stream with a new file.

First, we have to do this work in WBD

To validate the update, we have to save the old version of the attributes of VS. To do this, we have to launch the query “BW - List of Value Stream” (BW _QRY_C_VALSTR_0003) in WBD.

When the results appear, you have to rename the sheet1 to “BEFORE” and the save the Excel file like this (BEFORE_AFTER_VS_MMYYYY.xls) :

New flat file

Now, we have to work on the flat file that Jean-Louis send to BW support.

First, we have to save the flat file on your desk.

Then, open a new Excel workbook and select all the cells of the first sheet and change the format to have all cells in text format :

Now, we have to open the file of Jean-Louis that we saved before with Notepad :

Then, select all the data (CTRL+A) and copy it :

Go to the excel file and past it :

The results :

Now, we have to convert the file to have data per column :

Select Next :

Select point comma and “Next” :

To all the columns, you have to select the text format and select “Validate”:

Then, insert a column after “Devise VS” :

Put “Cash Unit” in the first row and nothing in others :

Now, save the file with this name: “C_VALSTR_ATTR_YYYYMMDD.csv (Be careful to save it with the extension “.csv !) :

Select “Yes” in this window :

Then, you can close the file.

If you want to check the modifications, you can open the new csv file with Notepad and see if there is “Cash Unit” in the first row :

And two point comma in every row after the currency :

Import the new file

When the new file is checked, the support team can add this one in the BW server.

  • Open FileZilla Client :
  • Connect to WBP : put “FRPARWBD” in the first cell and click on “Connexion”

  • Go to the folder “/BW/Value Stream” in the WBD server :

  • Import the new file : you have to double click on the file “C_VALSTR_ATTR_20111220.csv” in the left part :

Now, the new flat file is on the WBD server :

Update VS attributes on C_VALSTR

Connect to RSA1 in WBD

Go to RSA1 and Infoprovider :

Search the infoprovider “C_VALSTR” :

Select (double click) this info package :

Go on the tab “Extraction” :

Now you have to put the folder the folder where your file is. To do this, select this button and search the file on your desk and click on “Open”:

Then, you can save .

Now, go to the tab “Schedule” and select “Start” :

You can check in the monitor screen :

If it’s good, we have this screen :

If you have red alert, it’s not good :

Now, go back to the DTP :

Go to the tab “Execute” and select the button “Execute” :

Select “Yes” in this window :

If it’s good, you have this result (all in green) :

Now, we have to activate the new data. So, go back and select “Activate mater data” on “C_VALSTR” :

Compare new data

Now, we have to go back to the file “BEFORE_AFTER_VS_MMYYYY.xls”.

Add a new sheet, rename it “AFTER” and insert the query BW _QRY_C_VALSTR_0003 in this one :

Now, you have the new data and you can check if it’s good. For example, in the column “Currency” you have to have a real currency (EUR, USD, BRL…) or “#”; all the codes of plants have the same format (4 characters) :

If there is a problem, you with the format of the data, you have to redo the flat file correctly.

Work in WBQ

Save the old data

Before to modify the data in WBQ, you have to do the same file as we did in WBD.

Import the new file

We have to import the same file than we used in WBD. So, we have to open Filezilla and connect to WBQ server “FRPARWBQ” and put the file in the folder “/BW/ValueStream”.

Update VS attributes on C_VALSTR

It’s the same as WBD.

There is just a difference when you have to activate the data.

When we have launch the InfoPackage and the Data Process Transfer, select in the menu : “Tools” -> “Apply Hierarchy/Attribute Change…” :

Select “InfoObjectList” in the next window :

Then, select this line and validate :

Next, select “Execute” :

When the status is “Finished”, you can check new data.

Compare new data

It’s the same as WBD.

To validate the activation of the data, you can control the date of the relevance of data to see if it’s the good day (In the Analyzer).

Work in WBP

Save the old data

Before to modify the data in WBQ, you have to do the same file as we did in WBD and WBP.

Import the new file

We have to import the same file than we used in WBD and WBP. So, we have to open Filezilla and connect to WBP server “FRPARWBP” and put the file in the folder “/BW/ValueStream”.

Update VS attributes on C_VALSTR

It’s the same as WBQ.

Compare new data

It’s the same as WBD and WBP.

Finally, when we have the last file (data from WBP), we have to answer to Jean-Louis that the data are updated, and we add this file in the email.

How to improve this process

Few ideas to improve the process :

  • To modify the transformation to not add a new column in the file of Jean-Louis
  • To create a workbook in the CC role to have already a file with the query BW_QRY_C_VALSTR_0003 and the two sheets (AFTER and BEFORE).
  • To know why we can’t use the file in the server. When we try to update with the file in the server, we have an error in the infopackage, but when we try to update with a file in the desk of the user it’s good :

  • No labels
