Business Term Definition

A symbolic account is the Symbolic accounts act as a link between the wage types from Payroll and Finance environments of PF1 and WP1. Every wage type (which post from payroll to the finance) must be linked to a symbolic account and each symbolic account must be assigned to a GL account in the finance environments PF1 and WP1payroll (wage type) and Financial Accounting  (where G/L accounts are used).  
This allows for the posting of payroll results to the appropriate financial accounts.
